Delhi-NCR is expected to see mostly cloudy skies and very light to light rain on Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Thunderstorms and lightning are possible in some areas.

The forecast comes as the national capital prepares for the BRICS Leaders’ Summit. The summit is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on September 12 and 13.

Rain could create additional difficulties for commuters, particularly in areas affected by security arrangements, traffic restrictions and diversions.

The IMD has predicted light rainfall across Delhi between the forenoon and afternoon hours, followed by another possible spell at night.

Similar conditions are expected in all major districts, including New Delhi, Central, South, East, West, North and Shahdara.

Neighbouring areas such as Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad may experience cloudy weather, light rain, thunderstorms and lightning during the day, with further showers possible at night.

Authorities have introduced enhanced security measures and traffic arrangements from September 11 to 13 for the summit.

Commuters have been advised to remain alert and plan their journeys according to local conditions.

Elsewhere, Bihar is likely to remain cloudy, with afternoon rain and thunderstorms possible.

Odisha may witness isolated showers and thunderstorms, while West Bengal is expected to experience warm and humid weather with occasional rain.

Punjab could remain hot and hazy, with temperatures reaching around 39 degrees Celsius. Rajasthan is likely to see daytime temperatures near 36 degrees Celsius, although eastern parts may receive increased monsoon activity.

Himachal Pradesh may experience morning sunshine followed by scattered afternoon showers. Uttarakhand is expected to remain humid, with thunderstorms possible and a yellow alert in place for several districts.
