Delhi-NCR will continue to face severe heatwave conditions over the next three days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for May 26 and 27.

The department expects the maximum temperature to touch 44 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may remain between 30 and 31 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has advised residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during afternoon hours and remain hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Officials warned that strong surface winds during the afternoon and evening could further intensify the scorching conditions across the region.

The weather department expects similar conditions on May 27, with hot winds and heatwave conditions continuing throughout the day.

Authorities cautioned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat may increase the risk of dehydration and heatstroke, especially for people working outdoors.

The IMD expects weather conditions to begin changing gradually from May 28 onwards.

The IMD has forecast light rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds of up to 60 kmph from May 28.

The temperature is likely to drop sharply from May 29, with the maximum temperature expected to fall to nearly 36 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall and strong winds will likely bring relief from the ongoing heatwave across Delhi-NCR.

The weather may remain pleasant on May 30 and 31, with light rain and thunderstorms likely to continue.

Weather experts attributed the change to a Western Disturbance and shifting atmospheric conditions over north India.
