Air pollution levels across the National Capital Region have declined following recent rainfall and changing weather patterns, as cooler winds and clearer skies brought down pollution levels in several parts of Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad.
The improvement has provided relief to residents, as AQI readings at numerous monitoring stations have moved into the ‘Green’ and ‘Satisfactory’ categories.
According to figures released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), air quality remained within the satisfactory range at many monitoring stations in the national capital.
Alipur recorded an AQI of 74, while Ashok Vihar reported a reading of 92. Aya Nagar registered 87, and Burari Crossing recorded 86.
Additional stations also reported favourable levels, including 95 at the Commonwealth Sports Complex and 72 at CRRI on Mathura Road.
Some areas still recorded slightly higher pollution levels. Bawana registered an AQI of 117, the Cantonment area reported 116, and Chandni Chowk recorded 117, all of which fall under the ‘Moderate’ category.
Nearby cities in the NCR region also experienced improved air conditions.
In Noida, AQI readings stood at 70 in Sector 62, 90 in Sector 125, 85 in Sector 1 and 84 in Sector 116, placing all these areas in the ‘Satisfactory’ category.
Ghaziabad also recorded improved air quality, with AQI levels of 80 in Indirapuram, 64 in Sanjay Nagar and 84 in Vasundhara.
The Loni area reported a higher AQI of 133, which falls within the ‘Moderate’ range.
Weather Forecast for the Coming Days
The Meteorological Department has predicted mostly clear weather conditions across the NCR region in the coming days.
The seven-day forecast for the Noida area showed that temperatures on March 16 ranged between 17°C and 27°C under largely clear skies.
Temperatures will likely gradually increase, with the maximum likely to reach 28°C on March 17 and 29°C on March 18.
Weather conditions may shift from March 19 onwards, when partly cloudy skies are expected along with the possibility of light rainfall or thundershowers.
Experts say that continued rainfall and strong winds could help maintain improved air quality across the Delhi-NCR region in the days ahead.
