Sam Altman revealed that an assailant targeted his residence in San Francisco with a Molotov cocktail, allegedly driven by growing unease surrounding artificial intelligence. The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 AM, but the device caused no damage, and no injuries were reported.

Altman stated that the attack deeply unsettled his family. In a personal blog post, he shared a rare photograph of his private life, expressing concern while emphasising his commitment to transparency.

Sam Altman noted that he typically maintains strict privacy but chose to publish the image in hopes of discouraging further acts of violence.

The San Francisco Police Department confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect.

Authorities reported that the individual fled after the attempted attack and later approached the OpenAI office, where he allegedly issued threats to ignite the premises.

Altman suggested that the motive may stem from escalating public anxiety around AI technologies.
