Leadership Transition Adds Significance
This year’s WWDC carries additional significance as it is likely to be the final conference under Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook before leadership transitions to John Ternus in September.
Cook announced his retirement earlier this year after leading Apple for around 15 years, overseeing a period of significant growth driven largely by the success of the iPhone ecosystem.
Ternus, who has spent more than two decades at Apple and currently heads hardware engineering across major product categories, is widely viewed as Cook’s successor during a period of rapid technological change shaped by advances in artificial intelligence.
Industry experts believe the conference could provide important clues about how Apple plans to compete in the next phase of the global AI race.
