The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), announced ‘YANTRA – Yugantar for Advancing New Technology, Research and Acceleration’ as the official theme for National Technology Day 2025.
‘YANTRA’: Theme For National Technology Day
TDB revealed the theme on Saturday, highlighting the symbolic and functional depth of the word ‘YANTRA’.
More than just a term for machines, ‘YANTRA’ embodies India’s scientific heritage, emphasising systems, collaboration, and scalable innovation.
The accompanying term ‘Yugantar’, which denotes a transformative shift in time, signifies India’s evolution from a technology adopter to a global technology leader.
National Technology Day: Celebrating A Legacy Of Innovation
India celebrates National Technology Day every year on May 11, marking key technological milestones.
On this day in 1998, India conducted its successful nuclear tests under Operation Shakti and launched its indigenous aircraft Hansa-3 for its maiden flight.
To honour these achievements, the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared May 11 as National Technology Day.
Since then, the day has become a symbol of India’s advancement in science and technology, honouring innovation and connecting science with society and industry.
TDB To Host 2025 Celebration
TDB-DST will host the 2025 celebrations, gathering policymakers, scientists, industry experts, academic leaders, and startups to accelerate India’s growth in deep-tech, precision engineering, and advanced R&D sectors.
The event will focus on leveraging technology to strengthen India’s global standing and promote collaboration across disciplines.
