Google has unveiled a new entry in its long-running BestPhonesForever campaign, drawing inspiration from the melody and mood of the recently released film Wicked: For Good.
The spot takes a humorous swing at Apple’s iPhone while celebrating the innovations of Google Pixel devices.
The commercial depicts an iPhone admiring a Pixel device before breaking into a musical number. In the playful serenade, the iPhone credits Pixel with introducing features that Apple later adopted.
Among these, Google highlights call screening, AI-powered photo clean-up tools, and a conversational virtual assistant—showcasing that Pixel users experienced these innovations before they appeared on iPhone.
Rather than explaining technical specifications, Google leans on humour and theatrics to communicate its message.
Despite the singing smartphones and comedic narrative, the ad avoids delving into feature mechanics or practical advantages.
This approach resonates particularly with Pixel fans, maintaining the campaign’s playful and engaging tone.
Since its debut in 2023, the BestPhonesForever series has amassed a large following, with over 30 instalments now released.
Google continues to position Pixel as the more innovative device, using creative storytelling rather than conventional product demonstrations.
Apple, meanwhile, has refrained from responding publicly to the tongue-in-cheek campaign.
In related news, Josh Woodward, Vice President at Google, working across Google Labs and the Gemini app, has inspired a new social media trend.
On Friday, he shared an infographic-style version of his LinkedIn profile on X, prompting a wave of professionals to create visually polished, easily shareable CV graphics.
Woodward explained that the process is simple and user-friendly: users download their LinkedIn profile as a PDF, upload it to NotebookLM via the web, open the Infographic editor, and make minor adjustments before generating the final visual.
The tool aims to produce ready-to-share graphics with minimal editing, catering to the growing trend of visual digital resumes.
Through both its Pixel campaign and the Infographics tool, Google demonstrates how humour, creativity, and digital innovation can intersect.
While the musical ad promotes Pixel as a feature leader, Woodward’s social media initiative highlights the company’s efforts to simplify professional communication with cutting-edge AI tools.
