Google Unveils New Search Tools In India’s Year In Search 2025 Report As User Behaviour Shifts

Google transformed Search into an intelligence-driven experience, users can interact with information through images, and complex reasoning.

Google Search 2025: AI-Powered Features

Google says 15 per cent of global searches every day are completely new, as curiosity amongst people is driving major changes in the way people explore information online.

India continues to be a major contributor to the growing visual searches, which have surged 70 per cent over the past year.

Google Lens is being used in India more than anywhere in the world

In 2025, Google started presenting Search as more than just a tool for finding information.

The company emphasised that it now focuses on creating an ‘intelligence-led’ experience that helps users understand information more effectively and take action through richer, more adaptive responses.

It initially launched several new features, including AI Mode and Search Live, in India.

Google’s latest Gemini models, launched this year, broadened how people interact with Search, with users submitting longer questions, combining text with images, and relying on more complex reasoning.

Google highlighted seven major updates that shaped Search in 2025, including three features it introduced this week.

Nano Banana Pro was also launched this week, a new image creation and editing model built on Gemini 3 Pro. It blends Google’s search knowledge with AI reasoning, allowing users to create visual concepts ranging from product designs to data-based graphics.

Online shoppers in India can now virtually try on billions of clothing items across Search, Google Shopping, and even Google Images results.

Users simply upload a photo and can see how tops, dresses, jackets, and even shoes would look on them.

The tool relies on an AI model trained to understand how fabrics drape and fit different body shapes of people.

Some Features that Google Integrated through 2025:

  • Lens in AI Mode

Google users can now upload images not just to identify objects but to examine entire scenes, ask follow-up questions, and understand the connections between different elements.

  • Circle to Search with AI Mode

The well-known gesture-based tool now includes AI-powered reasoning. Users can circle an item on their screen and instantly ask deeper questions or request explanations without switching apps.

  • Search Live in AI Mode

Search Live lets users interact with Google in real time. By pointing their camera at objects—such as a broken device or a homework problem—they can receive spoken, step-by-step assistance. This feature supports both English and Hindi.

The company has also introduced a more natural way to search for travel options.

Instead of adjusting dates and filters, users can describe their ideal trip in everyday language, such as wanting a week-long winter vacation with nonstop flights and good food.

India also became the first country outside the United States to receive AI Mode, Google’s enhanced, AI-driven search experience.

Subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra can access Gemini 3 Pro by choosing the ‘Thinking’ option inside AI Mode.

Users have widely used the feature, available in eight Indian languages, for learning, drawing comparisons, completing writing tasks, and receiving step-by-step explanations.

The company describes Gemini 3 as its most capable model so far, offering stronger reasoning skills and better handling of complex questions.
