The outage began around 7 PM IST, according to user complaints and data from Downdetector, which recorded a sharp spike in reports.

The disruption affected users across several regions simultaneously, indicating a broader technical issue rather than isolated local problems.

Users in India and other countries reported that Facebook and Instagram failed to function normally.

Many said their feeds would not load, while others encountered problems refreshing content.

Several users also faced login issues and experienced difficulties accessing specific platform features.

As concerns grew, users turned to alternative social media platforms, particularly X, to verify whether the disruption was affecting others.

Reports shared online suggested that the outage impacted Facebook, Instagram and, in some cases, Facebook Messenger.

The service interruption affected users differently.

Some individuals could still access the websites, while others found that mobile applications failed to load new posts or update timelines.

The varied nature of the disruption prompted speculation that the problem originated within Meta’s backend infrastructure rather than from internet connectivity or device-related issues.

Downdetector registered more than 100,000 complaints linked to Facebook alone, underscoring the scale of the outage.

Instagram also recorded a substantial rise in reports as affected users continued flagging problems.

At the time of reporting, Meta had not released an official explanation regarding the cause of the disruption.

The company also did not indicate when normal operations would resume.

Many users attempted troubleshooting measures, including restarting applications, changing internet connections and checking software updates.
