Apple has unveiled upgraded Mac mini and Mac Studio desktops as demand for AI computing accelerates.

The new Mac mini targets consumers seeking to run autonomous AI agents locally or remotely. It starts at $899, making it $100 costlier than its predecessor.

The mini offers Apple’s new M6 chip or M5 Pro processor.

Apple said the 2-nanometre M6 variant delivers up to four times faster AI performance. It provides twice the graphics and storage speeds of the previous M4-based model.

The M5 Pro version features up to an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU. It targets professional workloads, including visual effects.

Both desktops have gained attention among users running autonomous AI agents such as OpenClaw, with strong demand reducing inventories at some Apple stores.

Apple refreshed the Mac Studio range with M5 Max and new M5 Ultra chips.

The machines target developers and professionals who need intensive AI performance. They can run large models on-device and combine the computing capacity of multiple systems.

The M5 Max Mac Studio starts at $2,499, while the M5 Ultra model costs from $5,499. The previous generation started at $1,999.

Rising memory-chip prices, driven by AI data-centre demand, have increased cost pressures.

Apple raised prices on some Mac and iPad models in June.

The launch is likely Tim Cook’s final major Apple product unveiling before hardware veteran John Ternus takes over as CEO.
