Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone appears closer to reality, with recent leaks offering the clearest indication yet of what could be the company’s first foldable smartphone.

New renders shared by YouTube channel Front Page Tech, along with details from noted tipster Ice Universe, suggest that Apple is developing a book-style foldable device, similar in concept to Google’s Pixel Fold.

According to the leaked visuals, the foldable iPhone is expected to feature a large internal display complemented by a smaller outer screen.

While the overall structure resembles existing book-style foldables, Apple seems to be applying its own design philosophy to the form factor.

The renders suggest a more rounded design compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, which typically features sharper, boxier edges.

Ice Universe noted this distinction, stating that Samsung’s approach appears more square, while Apple’s design opts for softer curves, giving the device a smoother and more refined appearance.

One of the most striking elements in the leaked images is the reportedly near-invisible crease on the inner display.

Visible creases have long been a common criticism of foldable smartphones, but Apple appears to be addressing this challenge head-on.

If the renders are accurate, the company may have significantly reduced the crease, potentially setting a new standard for foldable display quality.

Such an improvement would represent a notable technological advancement in a segment where display durability and visual consistency remain key concerns.

Display Size and Form Factor Balance

The foldable iPhone is likely to feature a 7.8-inch internal display that delivers a tablet-like experience when unfolded, along with a 5.5-inch external cover screen designed for comfortable one-handed use when closed.

This size combination suggests that Apple is aiming to balance portability with productivity, enabling users to switch seamlessly between smartphone and tablet-style usage.

Under the hood, the foldable iPhone is rumoured to feature Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chip, reportedly built using TSMC’s advanced 2-nanometre process.

This could result in significant gains in performance and energy efficiency compared to current iPhone models.

The device also uses a new silicon-carbon battery, which offers higher energy density without increasing size—an important advantage for foldable devices with limited internal space.

Leaks also point to a possible 24-megapixel under-display front camera.

If implemented successfully, this would allow Apple to deliver an uninterrupted screen without notches or punch-hole cut-outs, while still maintaining high image quality.

In terms of thickness, the foldable iPhone is reportedly comparable to two iPhone Air models stacked together, suggesting a slim yet robust design for a first-generation foldable.

Although Apple has not officially confirmed any details, the consistency of recent leaks suggests a carefully engineered product focused on refinement rather than experimentation.

If these reports prove accurate, Apple’s first foldable iPhone could set new benchmarks in design, display quality and durability when it eventually enters the market.
