Apple Boosts iPhone Production In India Ahead Of Festival Season

Apple has sharply increased iPhone production in India as the country’s annual festival season approaches.

Apple Achieves 28% Growth In iPhone Shipments In India In Q1 2025

Apple has sharply increased iPhone production in India as the country’s annual festival season approaches.

All four iPhone 17 models are now being manufactured across five major factories, including new Tata and Foxconn facilities.

For the first time, Apple will produce and launch new iPhone variants, including Pro models, from India instead of China. The move aims to meet rising domestic demand and expand exports, especially to the US, where India has become the top smartphone exporter.

In the first half of 2025, iPhone production in India jumped 53 per cent compared to last year, reaching about 23.9 million units. Exports rose to $22.56 billion, up from $14.71 billion the previous year.

Apple plans to increase annual manufacturing capacity to roughly 60 million units. The Tata Group is expected to handle up to half of India’s production within two years, while Foxconn targets 25-30 million units in 2025 alone.

India as a Strategic Manufacturing Hub

Much of the increased iPhone production is driven by India’s growing importance as a large consumer market and strategic manufacturing hub.

The shift helps Apple diversify its supply chains away from China amid ongoing tariff and geopolitical pressures.

The ramp-up also strengthens India’s role in Apple’s international manufacturing and export strategy. It positions the company to serve local consumers better and capitalise on the festive sales window.

Festival Season Boost and Export Expansion

Apple’s timing coincides with India’s key shopping festivals, allowing it to target higher domestic sales. At the same time, the increased output supports the company’s export ambitions.

Analysts note that India is becoming central to Apple’s global operations. It serves both as a production base and as a growing market for high-end smartphones.
