Apple Arcade has expanded its gaming library with the addition of Subway Surfers, the world’s most downloaded mobile game, now offered as a premium edition named Subway Surfers+.
The move allows subscribers to play the popular title without advertisements or in-app purchases.
Since its launch in 2012, billions of players have downloaded Subway Surfers worldwide, and Apple includes it in Apple Arcade to convert popular games into enhanced premium experiences for its ecosystem.
Enhanced Gameplay and Features
Subway Surfers+ retains the engaging core gameplay that made the original a global sensation. Players swipe to dodge obstacles, jump over barriers, and collect coins while traversing vibrant cityscapes.
The Apple Arcade version introduces new progression mechanics, access to legendary characters, and previously featured levels. Iconic characters such as Jack, Tricky, Fresh, and Yutani are included.
Players can play the game offline and on multiple Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro. iCloud automatically synchronises their progress, allowing them to continue seamlessly across devices.
Apple’s Strategy for Premium Gaming
The launch forms part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to bring popular mobile titles to Apple Arcade in premium versions.
Previous examples include Angry Birds Reloaded, Snake.io+, Smash Hit+, Temple Run+, and Mini Metro+.
By removing ads and in-app purchases, Apple aims to provide uninterrupted gaming experiences while encouraging developers to create exclusive, enhanced versions for its platform.
Subscription Details and Future Plans
Apple charges $6.99 per month (approximately ₹628) for Apple Arcade and also offers it through the Apple One bundle, which includes Apple Music, Apple TV, and 50GB of iCloud storage.
Despite past reports in 2024 highlighting growth challenges, Apple continues to add new games at the start of each month, reinforcing its commitment to expanding the service’s premium library.
