Apple Unveils iPhone 18 Pro With Smarter Siri & Pro Camera Controls

Apple has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, at its fall ‘Surprise and Shine’ event, introducing major upgrades across camera technology, performance, battery life and artificial intelligence.

The overall design remains similar to the previous generation, but Apple has made significant changes to the camera system.

The iPhone 18 Pro series features a 48-megapixel main camera with a new variable-aperture mechanism built with six thin blades.

The Camera app adds pro controls for white balance, shutter speed, aperture and histogram settings.

Both Pro models support 4K Dolby HDR Vision and post-shoot cinematic effects.

The smaller Dynamic Island can now display up to three Live Activities simultaneously. This lets users track multiple updates without leaving the screen.

Both models use the A20 Pro chip and a redesigned vapour chamber for better heat management.

Apple claims up to 36 hours of video playback on the iPhone 18 Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max.

Apple showcased upgraded Siri AI with contextual on-screen intelligence, helping it understand displayed information and actions.

With iOS 27, Apple is introducing an iPhone handoff feature that allows users to operate two iPhones using a single eSIM and switch between devices.

The iPhone 18 Pro series will be available in a new burgundy colour, replacing the orange finish from the previous generation.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299, marking a $100 increase over last year’s models. Pre-orders open Saturday, with sales beginning on September 18.
