About 200 meters from the Silkyara entrance in the Uttarakhand district, a section of the 4.5 km tunnel the construction workers were digging collapsed on Sunday, trapping them.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, visited the scene on Monday to view the rescue efforts.

After the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse, rescue personnel communicated with the trapped workers and used heavy machines to remove rubble.

It is being constructed as part of the Char Dham Road Project with the intention of cutting the distance between Uttarkashi and Yamunotri Dham by 26 km.

As sources reveal, the forthcoming draft bill for Uttarakhand seeks a categorical prohibition on polygamy, underscoring the government's commitment to social and legal reforms.
