The rupee ended the day on Wednesday 9 paise weaker at 83.13 against the dollar. Previously, on August 21, the Indian rupee had ended the day at the same price of 83.13.

At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 81.74, then touched a high of 81.67 against the American currency, registering a rise of 14 paise over its last close.

The domestic unit opened at 81.99 against the dollar, then climbed to 81.93, registering a rise of 18 paise over its previous close.

Rupee rises by 24 paise to 82.08 against US dollar

Rupee falls 25 paise to 82.46 against US dollar in early trade.

Meanwhile, the rupee declined 25 paise to close at 82.62 against the US dollar on Wednesday.

In the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 84.34 points or 0.14 per cent to 59,372.69 points.

At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 82.78 against the dollar and marginally rose to 82.77, registering a rise of 11 paise over its previous close.

At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened flat at 82.79 against the dollar. Later, it lost some ground to quote at 82.83, registering a decline of 4 paise over its last close.   

The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.19 per cent to 104.05.
