Bihar Conclave 2025

NCLAT

The SC has taken a serious view in the ongoing Delhi Gymkhana Club controversy, issuing a notice to club president in a contempt case.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs took over the Delhi Gymkhana Club four years ago over corruption but has not investigated any cases.

The issue of corruption at Delhi Gymkhana made headlines in 2020. The Government of India intervened and, on February 15, 2021, NCLAT dissolved the club's working committee, handing control to the Ministry of Company Affairs (MCA)

The bench, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and including Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra, reached this decision after reserving judgment on October 16 following a petition from the State Bank of India and other creditors.

The SC annulled the decision of NCLAT to close insolvency proceedings against Byju’s after the edtech giant settled a dispute with the BCCI.

The allegations of financial irregularities and corruption in the Gymkhana club, have once again put the club management in the dock..
