DC Defeats RCB By 6 Wickets
WPL 2023: Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 has almost completed half of its season and out of the total 22 games, 11 have already been played. Out of these 11 games played between the different teams, southern derby Royal Challengers Bangalore have now registered their 5th loss. Last night, the Delhi Capital took on the Royal challengers Bangalore at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai. The Capitals defeated the challengers by 6 wickets with 2 balls remaining which also lead to the 5th continuous loss to the RCB.

The capital’s winning the toss and opting to bowl got some early break though by sending Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine back to the pavilion for just 8 and 21 runs. Though Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh rescued the team with their partnership of 74 runs leading to the team’s total of 150/4. Perry played an unbeaten knock of 67 runs which included 5 sixes and 4 fours. Richa’s 37 runs out of 16 deliveries helped RCB with some momentum.
The Delhi capital’s chasing 151 which turned a tough surface to bat on. But Jess Jonassen and Marizanne Kapp played an unbeaten knock of 29 and 32 runs helping the capitals to win the show.
Kapp’s 4-0-17-0 in the first half and an unbeaten of 32 runs which included 3 fours and 1 six helped DC reach the game till the final over. Jonassen took on RCB’s Renuka Singh to finish off the game with a six and four with 2 balls remaining in the final over.
Delhi capital’s scored 154/4 in 19.4 overs.
After DC won against the RCB, the capitals stood in the 2nd position with a total of 8 points. On the other hand, RCB with their continuous 5th loss lands in the 5th position in the points table.
Upcoming matches of DC and RCB
RCB is now left with 3 games this season which have to be played against UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians. Though, there are no chances for Challengers to qualify for this season even if they win their remaining 3 games.
Whereas, the DC is left with 3 games. The team has to play its game with Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz. Though there are high chances for the Delhi Capitals to qualify for this season as they need a single win out of their remaining three games.
