WTC Final 2023- Virat Kohli hasn’t dreamed about the IPL season in a very long time. In fact, Royal Challengers Bangalore recorded their poorest points table result since they came in last place in 2019. As a result, Kohli was again denied the elusive trophy that has eluded him for so long in his 16th IPL season. The 33-year-old gets an opportunity to make up for what India missed in the 2021 final.  Following the conclusion of the IPL, Kohli and seven other Indian athletes will go to England to prepare for the crucial match against Australia at The Oval.

After being eliminated by the Gujarat Titans on Sunday from the race for the playoffs, RCB colleague Mohammed Siraj will accompany Kohli. The same flight will also carry pacers, Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat, as well as spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel, all-rounder Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav.

Unadkat and Umesh missed this season due to injuries and made the playoffs on Saturday. Both pacers, according to the report, passed the National Cricket Academy’s fitness test.

Mukesh also leaves for the final

Mukesh Kumar, who is on the reserve list, is also traveling to England with the initial group of Indian players. Aniket Choudhary, Akash Deep, and Yarra Prithviraj are three additional pacers who India will use as net bowlers. They were chosen by the BCCI selection committee.
Cheteshwar Pujara is already in England since he is representing Sussex in county cricket. He has been in outstanding form and has led the team for several centuries.

Other players to join the team after the IPL 2023

Only after finishing their IPL obligations, the remaining players like —Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Mohammad Shami, K S Bharat, and Ajinkya Rahane—fly to England.
Only three Australians headed for the WTC participated in the IPL 2023 season, which lasted two months and featured mostly Indian players. The same adage that the Australians will be psychologically better prepared for the final than the Indians was brought up last week by former Australia captain Ricky Ponting.

Ponting on India for the WTC Final

“There are two perspectives on this. Is Virat better off playing now, consistently getting runs, and feeling confident before a game than the Australians at home, who haven’t played much cricket but will be mentally more ready?”

India has already advanced to the WTC final three times. They had fallen to the Kane Williamson-led team in the Lord’s 2021 championship game. A victory would also be the Indian team’s first ICC trophy since their Champions Trophy triumph in 2013.
