Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced a stunning display of power-hitting as Rajasthan Royals scored 243/8 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2026 Eliminator at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

The 15-year-old opener smashed 97 runs from just 28 balls and completely dismantled the SRH bowling attack during the powerplay overs.

Vaibhav raced to his half-century in only 16 deliveries and matched Suresh Raina’s record for the fastest fifty in IPL playoff history.

The Rajasthan Royals youngster also overtook Chris Gayle for the highest number of sixes in a single T20 tournament.

Vaibhav narrowly missed a century after getting dismissed for 97 while attempting another attacking shot.

SRH skipper Pat Cummins attempted defensive tactics and instructed his bowlers to target yorkers and fuller deliveries.

The strategy failed to stop Vaibhav, who attacked bowlers all around the ground and pushed RR to 63 without loss within four overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal supported the innings from the other end while Vaibhav dominated the scoring.

Following Vaibhav’s dismissal, Dhruv Jurel continued the aggressive batting and scored a rapid half-century.

Jurel completed his fifty in 20 balls and helped Rajasthan Royals move beyond the 190-run mark before SRH picked up wickets in quick succession.

Riyan Parag and Dasun Shanaka could not stay long at the crease, but RR maintained a strong run rate.

Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled accurately in the closing overs and restricted the Rajasthan Royals from crossing the 250-run mark.

SRH managed to regain some control during the final overs after enduring a difficult start to the innings.

Brief Scores

Rajasthan Royals 243/8 in 20 overs (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 97, Dhruv Jurel 50; Praful Hinge 3/54) against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
