Rajasthan Royals delivered a powerful batting performance to score 214/6 in their 20 overs against Gujarat Titans during Qualifier 2 of IPL 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
Teen opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced another memorable innings, scoring 96 from 47 balls with the help of eight fours and seven sixes.
Unlike his aggressive innings in the Eliminator, the youngster displayed patience and composure while adjusting to the difficult pitch conditions.
The innings also helped him become the fastest cricketer to complete 1,000 IPL runs. He additionally created a new record for hitting the highest number of boundaries in a single IPL season.
Ravindra Jadeja strengthened Rajasthan’s innings with an aggressive 45-run knock despite suffering discomfort in his elbow during the match. The all-rounder briefly left the field after retiring hurt but later returned to continue batting.
Donovan Ferreira then produced a destructive late cameo, smashing an unbeaten 38 from only 11 deliveries. The hard-hitting batter attacked Rashid Khan in the final over and collected 27 runs, including four consecutive sixes.
Gujarat Titans began strongly after the Rajasthan Royals chose to bat first. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal in the opening over, while Kagiso Rabada removed Dhruv Jurel shortly afterwards.
With RR reduced to 9/2, Jadeja walked in ahead of the middle order and rebuilt the innings alongside Sooryavanshi. The duo counter-attacked effectively and prevented Gujarat from tightening control during the powerplay overs.
Riyan Parag and Sooryavanshi targeted Rashid Khan during the middle overs and scored freely against the Afghanistan spinner. Jason Holder shifted the momentum by dismissing both Parag and Dasun Shanaka in quick succession.
Prasidh Krishna later removed Jofra Archer, but Sooryavanshi continued attacking the bowlers with confidence. After reaching his half-century, he accelerated further with several clean strikes around the ground.
The young batter eventually missed out on a century after Kagiso Rabada dismissed him near the end of the innings.
Ferreira’s explosive hitting in the final over pushed Rajasthan Royals beyond the 210-run mark. His late assault gave RR a commanding total heading into the second innings.
