Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal supporters criticized the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee when the senior legging was left off India’s Asia Cup 2023 roster. Fans criticized the apex board for omitting Chahal from their roster and for not selecting even one offspinner.
Yuzvendra Chahal will not be a part of the Asia Cup 2023
Chief Selector Agarkar provided an explanation for this choice, stating that “it was difficult to fit two wrist spinners” and that it was crucial to include both Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel in order to have more batting depth in the lineup. On the 17-man roster, Kuldeep Yadav was chosen over Chahal as the only wrist spinner.
Danish Kaneria’s statement:
Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistani spinner, has supported the BCCI’s decision to use Kuldeep Yadav rather than Chahal. Kaneria commented on his YouTube channel:
“Yuzvendra Chahal is not currently deserving of becoming a member of Team India. He’s been erratic, to say the least. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav has consistently taken wickets and has the ability to perform well in the middle overs. By selecting Kuldeep over Chahal, the selectors made the right choice.
Former India bowler Harbhajan Singh disagrees, though. Harbhajan stated that Chahal is one of India’s top spinners in white-ball cricket and that the Asia Cup competition will be affected by his absence.
What does the ex-cricketer have to say?
“The absence of Chahal is the only thing I believe the team is lacking in a leg-spinner with the ability to sway the ball. In white-ball formats, Chahal is without a doubt India’s best spinner, if you’re talking about true spinners. Even though his last few games weren’t great, he is still a good bowler.

Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal was selected for the recent three-match IND against WI ODI series but was not selected for the starting XI, hence he was unable to participate in any of the games. The leg-spinner let up a lot of runs during his spells while picking up five wickets in five T20I matches against the West Indies during the same tour.
