Legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has rejoined Chennai Super Kings in preparation for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. Dhoni, who led CSK to their record fifth IPL title, arrived in Chennai on Tuesday. The iconic wicketkeeper-batsman will commence training with the rest of the CSK squad for the forthcoming season.

CSK, the defending champions, will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign in a much-anticipated clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk Stadium on March 22. The franchise, boasting five IPL titles, shared updates on Dhoni’s return on social media platforms, depicting the warm welcome he received from the team mascot and the presentation of a bouquet.

Social media buzzed with excitement as fans eagerly welcomed Dhoni back to his home ground in Chennai. Meanwhile, CSK has already initiated their preparatory camp on March 2, with players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Mukesh Choudhary, and Prashant Solanki already in training at Chepauk.

The revered skipper battled through last season with a knee injury, visibly struggling on occasions while running between the wickets. Despite this, he led CSK to their fifth title before undergoing knee surgery at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai.

Recently, Dhoni and his wife Sakshi were spotted at the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Amidst speculations that the upcoming season might be his last, Dhoni confirmed his return for one more season after clinching victory against Gujarat Titans in the final of the previous season.

Ahead of the new season, Dhoni hinted at a potential new role through a Facebook post, expressing his anticipation for the upcoming challenges. Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan assured fans of Dhoni’s fitness, stating that he is undergoing rehab programs and training, ensuring his readiness for the upcoming IPL season.

However, CSK faces a setback as star opener Devon Conway might miss the first half of the season due to a thumb injury sustained during the T20I series against Australia.
