T20 World Cup: Harbhajan backs Indian team to bring title home, says 'the confidence is high'

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his confidence in the Rohit Sharma-led team to win the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He also praise their consistent performance so far. India remains unbeaten in the tournament, with four wins out of five games, and their final group-stage match against Canada was abandoned due to rain in Florida. They continued their strong performance with a 47-run victory over Afghanistan in Barbados in the Super Eight stage.

As they prepare to face Bangladesh in Antigua on Saturday, Harbhajan commended the team’s all-round contributions. He emphasized that if India maintains their current “determination,” they are likely to win their second T20 World Cup title since 2007.

“Our team has shown exceptional form in the T20 World Cup so far, with every player in the playing 11 contributing significantly. We have been playing our A-game ticking all the boxes. The boys are in great touch, and the confidence is high. If we continue to play with the same determination, intensity, and passion I do not doubt that we can get over the line and bring the World Cup home for the first time after 2007,” Harbhajan said on Disney+ Hotstar.

India is currently second in Group 1 with two points from one match and needs to finish in the top two to advance to the semifinals. A win against Bangladesh would significantly boost their chances of reaching the final four. Their final Super Eight match is against Australia in St Lucia on Monday (June 24).

Currently, Australia leads the group after a decisive win over Bangladesh.
