Sunil Gavaskar Marks Massive Remark On Kohli’s Form Before WTC Final vs Australia, Says ‘He Was Having A Bit Of Luck’

When India last played Australia in a Test match, run-machine Virat Kohli broke his century record in the game’s longest format. Former India captain Kohli smashed a spectacular century to end a remarkable wait of 1205 days in Ahmedabad. Kohli’s 29th Test century helped India take a significant lead over the Australian side in the fourth and final Test. However, Sunil Gavaskar has issued an interesting statement about Virat Kohli’s form ahead of the World Test Championship final between India and Australia.

After regaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, hosts India booked their way to the ICC World Test Championship final. Kohli, who had an impressive batting season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) following the Australia Test series, is anticipated to lead Rohit Sharma and Co. in the ICC World Test Championship final at the Oval.

Sunil Gavaskar on Virat Kohli

Interestingly, Kohli went through a lean period before resuming his dominance in all formats. Sunil Gavaskar, the batting icon, commented on Kohli’s form ahead of the World Test Championship final. He said that luck had abandoned the ex-India captain during his dry spell. “Every player goes through what is known as a bad patch or a lean patch. So I believe that’s what was going on. Later on, when he started getting the runs, you would have noted that he was having a bit of luck in the beginning. The inside edges were getting close to but not striking the stumps, catches were being lost, or catches were just a little bit out from the fielder.

What more Mr. Gavaskar said about the run machine?

There is no denying that run-machine Kohli loves to bat against the mighty Australian side. Kohli was the leading run-getter for India in the four-match Test series against Australia. The 34-year-old had smashed 297 runs in six innings against the visitors. “Otherwise, he has got a wonderful temperament; he has got the hunger for runs. So no wonder that he has been back among the runs,” Gavaskar added.
