The 2023 ODI World Cup schedule and locations were revealed by the ICC on Tuesday. The main tournament will start on October 5 with England versus New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, including the defending champions. On October 8 in Chennai, hosts India will begin their campaign against their foe from the World Test Championship final, Australia. Numerous former cricket players and experts have voiced their opinions on the schedule ever since it was revealed. Sourav Ganguly, a former BCCI president, has also sent an impassioned letter. “Look forward to the World Cup in India,” posted Ganguly on Twitter. “I missed out as president due to COVID. What a show it will be. Great venues. Great allocations. No nation can boast of having so many venues. Congratulations to all at @BCCI, @jayshah, Roger Binny, and all the other office bearers and staff. Bcci will make it a tournament to remember for the world.

Earlier on Tuesday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah too expressed satisfaction following the release of the schedule and called it a “proud moment” for India to host the ODI World Cup for a fourth time.
“Indian moment of pride! It is a great honor to host the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup for the fourth time. We will highlight our incredible variety and world-class cricket infrastructure against the backdrop of 12 cities. Prepare yourself for a competition you won’t soon forget. Jay Shah tweeted.
The tantalizing match between India and Pakistan will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.

India played against Pakistan seven times
In previous ODI World Cup matches, India and Pakistan have met seven times: in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015, and 2019. Pakistan has not yet defeated India in a World Cup match played in the 50-over format. The two bitter adversaries only missed each other’s presence in 1992 and 2007.
