
IPL 2025: Indian Premier League season 18 is soon to be wrapped up. All the teams have played 12-13 matches so far, out of their 14 league matches. Top 4 teams have qualified for eliminator round and rest 6 teams are out of the tournament.
As IPL 2025 is going to be over, the name which drew atttention during the season, is captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team Rishabh Pant.
Although, LSG, on Thursday, defeated Gujarat Titans by 33 runs. After the match a journalist criticised Risabh Pant and posted on social media that LSG is going to release Pant in next season citing he didn’t perform as per expectation. Wicketkeeper angrily reacted on it.
The Journalist posted, ‘The LSG management will be releasing Rishabh Pant before the next seson because the management think It was not worth spending 27 crore on him.’
On the very post LSG captain furiously reacted, “I understand fake News gives more traction To content but let’s not built everything around it . Little sense and credible news will help more rather making fake news with agenda . Thanks have a good day. Let’s be responsible and sensible what we put out on social media.”
Rishabh Pant: The Most Expensive Player in IPL History
Risabh Pant was auctioned at 27 crore by LSG which is, since season one, the highest amount ever paid by any franchise for an individual player.
Along with Pant, Shreyash Ayyar was auctioned at 24 crore by Punjab Kings which borne fruit to the frnachise as Punjab Kings has qualified for eliminator round under Ayyar’s captaincy.
Before this season, Pant was playing for Delhi Capitals. In the auction Delhi used its ‘Right to Match’ and auctioned 20.75 cr for Risabh Pant but could’nt succed in retaining him, as LSG surged the auctioning amount to 27 crore.
String Of Failures Followed Throughout The Season
Rishabh Pant has joined LSG camp not just as a player but a captain, but Lucknow team performed poor during the whole season. LSG won, under Pant captancy, just 6 matches out of 13. Loosing 7 matches threw the team out of the league. Except for the Nicolas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh, No individual performance during the league has been able to draw applause.
Above all the LSG captain’s performance failed to impress not just the management but fans as well. The wicketkeeper batter kept on struggling with bat throughout the entire the season.
Rishabh Pant has merely managed to score one fifty in the thirteen matches he played so far. Pant has scored only 151 runs in the entire seson with 12 boundaries and 8 sixes.
Meaning his one run costed 17.88 lakh to the LSG management. This performance also includes strike rate of 107.

Will Pant Receive The Full 27 crores?
Apart from Rishabh Pant’s performance, fans are more interested in knowing how much money Pant will get. Now let’s come to its calculation. According to the news going on in the media, 30% tax will be levied on Pant’s professional income, which will be Rs 8.06 crore. After surcharge, the tax will be Rs 11.04 crore.
As his income is more than Rs 5 crore, a 37% surcharge is applicable. After deducting 4% of health and education cess, his total tax will be Rs 11.48 crore. Therefore, Pant’s in-hand salary will be around Rs 15.52 crore.
Now it remains to be seen whether Lucknow retains him for the next season or releases him, And If he again enters the field in LSG jersey, how much his performance improves in the next season.
