Former India captain Rahul Dravid said he felt honoured after being presented with the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award at the BCCI Annual Awards ceremony held in New Delhi.
Dravid shared the recognition with Roger Binny and Mithali Raj at the grand event organised on Sunday evening.
Speaking about the honour, Dravid said he has always considered his contribution to the game as continuing the legacy built by previous generations of cricketers.
Dravid noted that throughout his career, both as a player and later as a coach, he tried to strengthen the foundation created by those who shaped Indian cricket before him. He added that every era of players has a responsibility to contribute to the game during its time.
He further said that the recent achievements of Indian cricket highlight the efforts of the current team, support staff and administrators working together for the sport.
The former Indian skipper, who also served as the national team’s head coach, said the award means a great deal to him. He pointed out that several past recipients of the honour are among the most celebrated figures in the history of Indian cricket.
Dravid said many of these legends were role models who influenced him throughout his journey in the sport.
Looking back at his long career, Dravid said he feels fortunate to have remained connected with Indian cricket from his early days in age-group competitions to his later roles with the national side.
He added that being part of Indian cricket for such a long period has been a privilege, and he remains thankful for the opportunities he received over the years.
