Punjab Kings Beat Mumbai Indians By 7 Wickets As Shreyas Iyer, Prabhsimran Singh Star In Chase

In the 24th match of the Indian Premier League 2026, the Punjab Kings defeated the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 196 runs, Punjab Kings completed the chase in just 16.3 overs with only three wickets lost.

Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh scored impressive half-centuries. This result marks the Mumbai Indians’ fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament.

Punjab Kings did not begin strongly while chasing 196. Priyansh Arya scored 15 runs from 9 balls before Allah Ghazanfar dismissed him.

Cooper Connolly also failed to make an impact and departed after scoring 17 runs from 12 balls. Iyer and Prabhsimran, however, stabilised the innings and put together a century partnership for the third wicket, adding 139 runs from 66 balls.

Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant knock of 66 runs from 35 balls, striking five fours and four sixes. Prabhsimran Singh remained unbeaten on 89 runs from 39 balls, smashing 11 fours and two sixes.

Marcus Stoinis also did not stay out on 10 runs. For the Mumbai Indians, Allah Ghazanfar claimed two wickets for 31 runs, while Shardul Thakur picked up one wicket.

Earlier, the Mumbai Indians scored 195 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. The team did not start well, as Ryan Rickelton fell for just 2 runs and Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed without scoring.

Naman Dhir and Quinton de Kock, however, built a crucial 122-run partnership for the third wicket in 68 balls.

Naman scored a solid 50 from 31 balls. De Kock delivered an outstanding innings, registering his third IPL century with 112 runs from 60 balls at a strike rate of 186, including eight fours and seven sixes. Hardik Pandya scored 14 runs from 12 balls, while Tilak Varma was run out for 8.

For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh impressed with the ball, taking three wickets for 22 runs in four overs, while Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh claimed one wicket each. Punjab Kings have now registered their fourth win of the season.
