Prithvi Shaw Set to Make Comeback in the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy Following Successful Recovery from Knee Injury

Prithvi Shaw recuperated ahead of schedule; however, Nitin Patel, the head of NCA’s medical panel, insisted on the 24-year-old undergoing skill-based workloads and high-intensity mobility drills before granting him a clearance certificate.

Prithvi Shaw, the Indian batter, is set to stage a comeback in competitive cricket as he gets included in Mumbai’s squad for the upcoming 2023-24 Ranji Trophy. In August 2023, the 24-year-old endured a knee injury during his time with Northamptonshire in county cricket. Subsequently, he underwent surgery in London and completed a three-month rehabilitation process. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru granted Prithvi clearance to participate in competitive cricket, paving the way for his inclusion in the Mumbai squad.

ESPNcricinfo reported that Prithvi had recovered from the injury earlier, but Nitin Patel, the head of NCA’s medical panel, insisted on the batter undergoing skill-based workloads and high-intensity mobility drills before issuing a clearance certificate.

Upon joining the squad, Prithvi acknowledged the past but emphasized the need to move forward.

“Those few innings [at the start of IPL 2023] went in a flash. [While] I kept thinking about the first match, I quickly realized three matches had passed. The learning was once the match is done, just leave it there. You can’t do anything about it; it’s history. You have to keep moving forward,” expressed Prithvi, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Mumbai currently holds the leading position in Group B of the ongoing Ranji Trophy after securing victories in three out of four games.
