Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described the recently concluded Khelo India Youth Games 2025, held across five cities in Bihar, as a ‘big hit’ and a celebration of India’s rising sporting spirit.

Speaking during the 122nd episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, he praised both the athletes’ performances and the hospitality of the host state.

Record Participation And Warm Reception

Over 5,000 athletes from across the country took part in this year’s edition of the Games, which featured competitions across various categories.

The people of Bihar warmly welcomed the athletes, who were highly impressed with the state’s sporting enthusiasm and local support, the Prime Minister lauded.

“The land of Bihar is very special,” he remark. “This edition saw many unique achievements, and the world took notice.”

Global Spotlight On Indian Talent

For the first time, the Khelo India Youth Games were broadcast globally via the Olympic Channel, marking a significant milestone for Indian sports.

This international exposure allowed viewers around the world to witness the talent of India’s young athletes.

“I congratulate all the medal winners, especially the top three states — Maharashtra, Haryana, and Rajasthan,” said Mr Modi.

New Records Set By Emerging Stars

In weightlifting, Asmita Dhone of Maharashtra, Harshvardhan Sahu of Odisha, and Tushar Chaudhary of Uttar Pradesh delivered outstanding performances.

Notably, Sairaj Pardesi from Maharashtra set three records in the event.

Athletics also saw remarkable displays of skill and endurance.

The Prime Minister praised the performances of Qadir Khan and Sheikh Zeeshan, both from Uttar Pradesh, and Hansraj from Rajasthan.

He also commended Team Bihar for securing 36 medals, contributing significantly to the state’s sporting growth.

Inspiring The Next Generation

PM Modi further concluded by underlining the importance of such sporting platforms in nurturing young talent.

“The one who plays, blooms,” he stated, adding that tournaments like the Khelo India Youth Games are vital for shaping the future of Indian sports.

“These games are not just about competition; they are about building confidence, strength, and national pride in our youth,” he affirmed.
