India’s Avani Lekhara has advanced to the final of the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1 event after securing seventh place in the qualification round at the Chateauroux shooting range. Lekhara showcased resilience across three challenging rounds—kneeling, prone, and standing—to achieve a total score of 1159, including 59 inner tens.
Mona Agarwal Misses Out on Final Spot
While Lekhara moved forward, fellow Indian shooter Mona Agarwal missed a spot in the final. Agarwal finished 13th with a score of 1147 and 38 inner tens. Despite her best efforts, she fell short of making the top eight.
Lekhara’s Paralympic Success and History
Earlier, Avani Lekhara clinched gold in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event, bettering her own Paralympic record set in Tokyo. At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, she made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win two medals at a single edition, earning gold in the 10m Air Rifle and bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1 category.
