Cricketer Prithvi Shaw and Influencer Sapna Gil’s controversial case is now taking a new turn as the actress recently applied to a Mumbai police station seeking registration of an FIR against the Indian Cricketer. Ms Gill, who got arrested last week along with some others in connection with an attack on Mr Shaw following an argument over clicking selfies at a suburban hotel, was released on bail by a magistrate court on Monday.

Sapna Gil’s FIR Details

In the complaint, Sapna accused Shaw of inappropriately touching her and pushing her during the brawl on February 15. The complaint of the social media influencer has been registered under sections 34 (criminal act with common intention), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 146 (rioting), 148 (rioting with armed weapons), 149 (unlawful assembly offence committed in prosecution), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 351 (use of criminal force), 354 (outrage of modesty) and 509 (advantage of proximity, gesture to outrage modesty) of the Indian Penal code.

According to Ms Gill’s application, she and her friend Shobhit Thakur are regular customers of the upmarket club, where the latter spotted Mr Shaw who was partying with friends and was drunk. Shobhit, being a cricket fan, approached Mr Shaw for a selfie, which was met with hostility, the application reported.

“Thakur, who is just a teenager, was unaware of the brutality of the drunken mob. He was helpless and unable to defend himself. Hence, she (Gill) intervened and entered the fray trying to stop Shaw and others from further harming and injuring Thakur” Gil stated. It further claimed that Ms Gill begged and pleaded with Mr Shaw, who was “inebriated” at the time.

Remarkably, Shaw’s childhood friend Arjun Tendulkar supported him. He had posted a tweet in support of the out-of-favour India opener. “Stay strong boy, always with you through good and bad times @prithvishaw,” Arjun tweeted.
