Neeru Dhanda To Lead India As Flag-Bearer At Asian Games Closing Ceremony

Indian shooter Neeru Dhanda will carry the national flag during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, following an outstanding three-medal campaign.

The 27-year-old has collected two gold medals and a silver in trap shooting.

Dhanda began her campaign with a silver in the women’s trap team event alongside Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer. The Indian trio finished behind China after recording 328 points.

Dhanda then created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games gold in the individual trap event. She topped qualification with 118 and produced 28 hits in the final to claim gold.

Dhanda secured her second gold alongside Kynan Chenai in the trap mixed team event. The Indian duo registered 34 hits in the final and set a new Asian record.

The triumph came less than a day after Dhanda’s individual gold, completing a remarkable two-day spell at the shooting range.

Dhanda’s three-medal haul has earned her the honour of leading India’s contingent at the closing ceremony. She returned to India after her events but was subsequently called back to Japan for the ceremony.

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games closing ceremony will be held on October 4 at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6 PM Japan time, or 2:30 PM IST.
