Ranji Trophy final
Mumbai won their 42nd Ranji Trophy title after an eight-year drought by defeating Vidarbha by 169 runs in an exciting final at Wankhede Stadium. Vidarbha’s attempt to chase Mumbai’s target of 538 runs fell short as they were bowled out for 368.
Vidarbha’s captain, Akshay Wadkar, scored a century and Harsh Dubey made a solid contribution with a half-century, frustrating Mumbai’s bowlers. However, Mumbai’s Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande took crucial wickets to secure victory. Dhawal Kulkarni, in his final cricket match, claimed the last wicket.
Tushar Deshpande used short deliveries effectively to dismiss Harsh Dubey (65 runs off 128 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes), and Aditya Sarwate, who played less due to a back problem.
