Indian Premier League 2026 saw Lucknow Super Giants produce an outstanding batting display against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a rain-curtailed encounter at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The hosts finished on a commanding 209/3 in their allotted 19 overs.
Heavy showers interrupted the match several times, but Mitchell Marsh completely dominated the RCB bowling attack with a blistering 111 from 56 deliveries.
The Australian star cleared the boundary regularly and struck nine fours along with nine sixes during his memorable innings.
After winning the toss, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar decided to field first. LSG began carefully before Marsh attacked aggressively in the second over against Josh Hazlewood, launching two huge sixes to shift the momentum instantly.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar generated some early swing, but Marsh countered with fearless strokeplay against both seamers and spinners. He also punished Rasikh Salam Dar during the Power-play and completed a rapid fifty in just 20 balls, the quickest half-century of his IPL career.
LSG reached 68 without loss at the end of the power play, recording their strongest opening phase this season.
Arshin Kulkarni played a supporting role effectively while Marsh dominated the scoring.
Following another brief rain stoppage, Marsh resumed attacking the bowlers. He brought up his century in only 49 deliveries. The knock set a new record for the fastest hundred by an LSG batter in IPL history.
Krunal Pandya eventually dismissed Kulkarni for 17 to break the opening stand.
Nicholas Pooran then maintained the momentum with a quick 38 off 23 balls. Hazlewood later removed Marsh late in the innings.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant delivered the finishing touches with an unbeaten 32 from only 10 deliveries. He attacked the RCB pacers in the closing overs and helped his side cross the 200-run mark comfortably.
RCB now need 213 runs under the DLS method to secure victory in the rain-affected contest.
