The stage is set for the greatest prize in cricket, with Australia, the five-time champions, and India facing off in Sunday’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. After winning all ten of their matches thus far, including a 70-run victory over New Zealand in the semi-final, India is undefeated in the tournament. However, after losing their opening two group stage matches, Australia has turned around. The team captained by Pat Cummins emerged victorious against South Africa on Thursday in the second semifinal, securing a final encounter with Rohit Sharma’s team.
Mitchell Marsh, an all-rounder for Australia, had predicted earlier in the year that his side would defeat India on home ground and advance to the final. In the final, Marsh had made the absurd prediction that Australia would score 450/2 and bowl India out for 65 to win the match.
Marsh’s prediction has since gained widespread attention, especially since Australia defeated the Proteas to advance to the final.
Australia defeated India and went undefeated. In the May 2023 edition of the Delhi Capitals podcast, Marsh stated, “Australia 450/2 in the final, India all out 65.”
Notably, India hasn’t won an international championship since the Champions Trophy in 2013, and anticipation in the 1.4 billion cricket enthusiasts in this country has reached fever pitch. But the Australian team, who are playing in their eighth World Cup final, will be up against the hosts after winning eight straight games.

However, four weeks ago in Chennai during the group stage, India crushed Australia by six wickets, bowling out Pat Cummins’ team for 199.
