Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh delivered a remarkable performance to secure the bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Their victory came after a dramatic contest against South Korea, showcasing their resilience and skill.

The match unfolded with an initial setback for the Indian team, who trailed after losing the first series.

However, Bhaker and Singh quickly recalibrated their strategy, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and focus.

By the third series, they had shifted the momentum in their favor, leading 4-2.

Their dominance continued as they extended their lead to 8-2 by the fifth series.

Despite a spirited comeback from the South Korean pair, who narrowed the gap to 6-10 by the eighth series, Bhaker and Singh held their nerve.

They clinched the victory with a final score of 16-10, marking India’s second medal at the Games.

In the aftermath of their victory, Manu Bhaker shared her emotions, saying, “I feel incredibly proud and grateful. Thank you for all the blessings and support. We focused on controlling what we could and decided to fight until the very last shot,” she told broadcasters.

Sarabjot Singh, who celebrated his first Olympic medal, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome.

“It feels amazing. The competition was intense, but we are thrilled with the result. The pressure was high, but the crowd’s support was tremendous,” he remarked, acknowledging the encouragement that fueled their performance.

The duo had entered the bronze medal match after securing a third-place finish in the qualifying round with a combined score of 580.

This bronze medal is particularly significant for Manu Bhaker, who has now made history as the first Indian woman to win multiple medals at a single Olympic Games.

Earlier in the competition, Bhaker had already won a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event, highlighting her exceptional prowess in shooting and contributing to India’s growing Olympic success.
