“Lagta Hai Roz 8 Kilo Nihari Khate Hain”: Wasim Akram fumes at Babar & co over for their poor fielding performance

Pakistan’s cricket community is reeling from Monday’s devastating 8-wicket loss to Afghanistan in Chennai. The Afghans pulled off an incredible upset at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, winning their first-ever one-day international against Pakistan. Additionally, this is their first World Cup campaign in which they have won multiple games.

The two teams’ approaches were obviously different from one another. In every category, the Afghan players performed with confidence and without fear. The men in green, on the other hand, were morally dejected, particularly after losing two straight matches to Australia and India. The fielders made numerous errors, and the bowlers failed to make an impression, both of which were indicative of their lack of intent.

Wasim Akram, a classic of pace, was among the former cricket players who were incensed by Pakistan’s performance on Monday night. The former captain lost his temper while criticizing the players’ levels of fitness while speaking on A Sports.

“Today was embarrassing.” With 8 wickets remaining, they [Afghanistan] pursued 280–290, which is rather impressive. They totally eliminated the pitch factor. And just take a peek at our guys’ levels of fitness,” Akram remarked.

“For the past three weeks, we have been screaming here that they haven’t had fitness tests in the last two years.” Should I address them individually now that their faces are becoming more prominent? It seems like they eat kilograms of meat every day (lagta hai roz 8 kilo nihari khate hain),” he continued.

Akram went on to say that the most important factor for someone who wants to play professional cricket and represent their nation is fitness.

There ought to be a test conducted. These players are salaried pros who play for their country; thus, there must be a set of requirements. I agree with Misbah; during his tenure as coach, he met those standards. He was disliked by the players, yet it worked.

“Our deficiencies are in our fitness, which is the foundation of fielding. It’s not a matter of ifs and buts; we’ll just hope that this team prevails and that team loses. That’s a very large “maybe,” Akram continued.
