The three-day Adani Global Indology Conclave opened at the Adani Corporate House with Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati gracing the inaugural session.
Applauding the initiative, he remarked that India could reclaim the stature of a ‘world teacher’, adding that Gautam Adani’s move reinforces this long-held vision.
Addressing scholars and students, Adani began his emotional speech by remembering his mother, Shantaben. He recalled spending his childhood evenings in the deserts of Banaskantha listening to stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata.
These narratives of devotion, duty and moral clarity, he said, shaped his understanding of Dharma and inspired the philosophy he carries today.
He revealed that the idea of an Indology mission emerged during the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya last year, when he felt his mother’s teachings resonate once again.
Adani reflected on historic disruptions to Indian knowledge systems, citing the destruction of Nalanda and Vikramshila, and the intellectual impact of Macaulay’s 1835 education policies.
He argued that today’s threats are more subtle, pointing to artificial intelligence as a powerful force capable of reshaping cultural memory.
He cautioned that without proactive cultural preservation, future generations may learn their traditions through the cold, literal interpretations of machines rather than lived wisdom.
Five-Point Plan to Safeguard India’s Intellectual Sovereignty
Adani proposed a comprehensive roadmap that includes creating an India Knowledge Graph and developing India-centred AI corpora. He also recommended granting scholars the right to audit AI systems. He also suggested setting up Indology–AI chairs in universities and transforming colleges into spaces where ancient knowledge meets modern technology.
Concluding his address, Adani pledged ₹100 crore to initiate the India Knowledge Graph and support scholars and technologists.
Calling it a ‘civilisational responsibility’, he urged corporate houses across the nation to join the endeavour.
He ended with a firm declaration, “Only India will define India. Our history will be written by our own hands.”
