Ishan Kishan
In India’s squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in June, Ishan Kishan has stepped in for the injured KL Rahul. Rahul, the chief of the Lucknow Super Goliaths, had been sidelined for the remainder of the IPL and the WTC last season with a thigh injury. According to a statement from the BCCI, a decision regarding Jaydev Unadkat, who injured his left shoulder while training in the IPL, will be made later for the WTC final.
Ishan Kishan The replacement for KL Rahul
Kishan has played 14 ODIs and 27 T20Is, but he hasn’t won a Test cap. He is the second wicketkeeper in India’s WTC team after KS Bharat, who made his Test debut against Australia in February this year in Rishabh Pant’s absence. He played six innings in the four Tests for a total of 101 runs, with a high score of 44.
Rahul will now undergo surgery and go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehab, as he had previously announced on social media.
Other injured players
Unadkat, Rahul’s LSG teammate, is out for the remaining IPL games due to an injury. He then made a trip to Mumbai for examinations and visited one of the expert specialists selected by the BCCI.
After suffering a hamstring injury during the Kolkata Knight Riders’ April 26 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Umesh Yadav has also been placed on the injured list. Since then, the fast bowler has resumed “low-intensity bowling” for KKR. Umesh’s health is being “closely monitored” by the BCCI’s medical staff, who are collaborating with KKR’s personnel to get him fit.
Batsmen available for Team India
In the meantime, seamer Mukesh Kumar and batters Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been selected as reserve players for the WTC final. Suryakumar is the only one of them who has played in a Test match; he made his debut against Australia in February in Nagpur.
