Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made headlines at the IPL Mini Auction on Tuesday by securing two uncapped Indian players, Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma, at a staggering Rs 14.2 crore each.
Left-handed pacer Prashant Veer, who had a modest base price of Rs 30 lakh, saw his value skyrocket during the auction held in Dubai.
Lucknow Super Giants showed early interest, followed by the Mumbai Indians. CSK entered the bidding at Rs 1.30 crore, with Rajasthan Royals briefly joining the contest.
The bidding intensified when Sunrisers Hyderabad surprisingly pushed the price to Rs 6.80 crore.
However, CSK had the final word, securing Veer for Rs 14.2 crore, the highest price paid for an uncapped player in the auction.
Meanwhile, Kartik Sharma (19), a wicketkeeper-batter with the same base price of Rs 30 lakh, also attracted strong interest from the Mumbai Indians, CSK, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants.
After a fierce bidding war, CSK once again emerged victorious, snapping up Sharma for Rs 14.2 crore.
