Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have completed a headline-grabbing player exchange ahead of IPL 2027, involving two prominent Indian cricketers.
As part of the arrangement, Delhi has secured the return of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for ₹15 crore.
Lucknow, meanwhile, has acquired left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who joins the franchise on his existing ₹13.5 crore contract.
The Indian Premier League officially ratified the deal on Tuesday, confirming one of the biggest moves of the off-season.
Pant’s return brings him back to the team where he established himself as one of the league’s leading players.
During his first spell with Delhi Capitals from 2016 to 2024, Pant made 111 appearances and became the franchise’s most-capped player.
The dynamic batter also captained the side over four seasons, leading the team in 43 matches between 2021 and 2024.
Although Lucknow invested a record ₹27 crore to sign him before IPL 2025, his stay with the franchise proved relatively short-lived.
Kuldeep leaves Delhi Capitals after delivering consistent performances across five seasons.
The spinner collected 72 wickets in 65 matches and regularly played a crucial role in Delhi’s bowling unit. His ability to strike at key moments made him one of the team’s most valuable performers.
Lucknow will hope his experience and wicket-taking ability can help strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
The trade follows a disappointing period for Lucknow Super Giants, who finished seventh in 2025 before ending the 2026 season at the foot of the standings.
Pant relinquished the captaincy before the conclusion of IPL 2026 after overseeing two difficult campaigns. Under his leadership, the franchise recorded 10 wins and 18 losses.
The transfer now offers Pant a chance to reconnect with a familiar environment, while Kuldeep prepares for a fresh challenge with Lucknow ahead of the 2027 season.
