Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a commanding performance to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs in Match 67 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The contest turned into a high-scoring affair, with SRH maintaining control throughout.
After choosing to bat first, SRH posted an imposing total of 255 for four in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma set the tempo with a brisk 56 from 22 deliveries, hitting boundaries with ease. Travis Head contributed a quick 26 off 16 balls.
Ishan Kishan played a key role with a well-crafted 79 off 46 balls. Heinrich Klaasen added momentum by scoring 51 from 24 deliveries. Nitish Kumar Reddy finished strongly with an unbeaten 29 off 12 balls, ensuring the team crossed the 250-run mark.
The bowlers of Royal Challengers Bengaluru found it difficult to contain the flow of runs, with each frontline bowler conceding heavily. Rasikh Salam stood out with two wickets, while Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya took one wicket each.
In pursuit of 256, Royal Challengers Bengaluru began aggressively, with Venkatesh Iyer scoring 44 off 19 balls. Early dismissals of Iyer, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal disrupted their progress.
Captain Rajat Patidar contributed a steady 56 off 39 balls, while Krunal Pandya added an unbeaten 41. Despite these efforts, the mounting required rate proved too demanding.
The SRH bowling unit kept the pressure intact during the latter stages. Eshan Malinga delivered an effective spell, claiming two wickets for 33 runs. Sakib Hussain supported well with one wicket, and Travis Head also chipped in.
This emphatic result boosts Sunrisers Hyderabad’s confidence as the tournament nears its decisive phase.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru will need to reassess their bowling approach after another expensive performance.
