IPL 2026: Sai Sudharsan, Gill And Buttler Power GT To 229/4 Against CSK

Gujarat Titans rode on explosive half-centuries from B Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler to post a formidable 229/4 against Chennai Super Kings in their final league-stage clash of the Indian Premier League at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday.

Sudharsan top-scored with 84 off 53 balls, while Gill hammered 64 off 37 deliveries. Buttler then provided the finishing flourish with an unbeaten 57 off 27 balls as GT once again relied heavily on contributions from their top-order batters.

Gill and Sudharsan gave Gujarat a flying start on the red-soil surface, with the skipper attacking from the outset while Sudharsan initially played the supporting role.

After the power play, both batters accelerated sharply and kept the boundaries flowing.

Gill brought up his fifty in just 23 balls with consecutive sixes off Noor Ahmad and also crossed the milestone of 6000 T20 runs.

Sudharsan soon completed his fifth successive IPL fifty off 35 balls, joining an elite list featuring Virender Sehwag, David Warner and Buttler.

The duo’s 125-run partnership equalled the IPL record for most century stands, matching the tally of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. It also marked their seventh 100-plus partnership together, setting a new IPL record.

CSK finally broke the stand in the 13th over when Gill miscued Spencer Johnson to mid-wicket.

Buttler then took charge, smashing Noor Ahmad for two sixes immediately after arriving at the crease.

Sudharsan continued his aggressive strokeplay before falling for 84 in the 18th over.

Buttler, however, kept the momentum alive and reached his fifty in just 23 balls. Washington Sundar added late runs with a quick six as GT crossed the 220-mark comfortably.
