Mitchell Starc delivered a decisive performance with the ball as Delhi Capitals held Rajasthan Royals to 193/8 in 20 overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. His impactful spell curtailed Rajasthan’s scoring surge despite well-crafted half-centuries from Dhruv Jurel and captain Riyan Parag.

Starc conceded 28 runs in his opening two overs but returned strongly in the closing stages. He maintained tight control and picked up four wickets in his final two overs while conceding only 12 runs.

His effort triggered a collapse as Rajasthan Royals lost six wickets for 33 runs in the final six overs after appearing set for a total well beyond 220.

Rajasthan Royals looked comfortable at 160/2 in the 14th over, with Parag producing a brisk 51, marking his fastest IPL fifty. He struck multiple sixes and boundaries with authority.

Jurel supported him effectively, compiling a composed 53 and ensuring the innings progressed steadily.

Young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi provided early momentum with an aggressive 46 off 21 balls. He attacked the bowlers confidently and established a strong platform. Yashasvi Jaiswal also began positively before Lungi Ngidi dismissed him.

Delhi Capitals struggled with their fielding during the initial overs, dropping crucial catches.

Jurel and Sooryavanshi both benefited from missed opportunities, while Parag also survived a chance. These errors allowed the Rajasthan Royals to build a solid foundation.

The match turned in the 15th over when Starc dismissed Parag with a slower delivery. He followed this by removing Donovan Ferreira and trapping debutant Ravi Singh lbw.

Madhav Tiwari dismissed Shubham Dubey soon after, while Starc and Ngidi tightened control to close out the innings.

Delhi Capitals executed their bowling plans effectively in the closing overs to restrict the opposition. Their disciplined approach ensured Rajasthan Royals finished below the 200-run mark, keeping the contest balanced.

Brief Scores

Rajasthan Royals 193/8 in 20 overs (Dhruv Jurel 53, Riyan Parag 51; Mitchell Starc 4-40, Lungi Ngidi 2-24) against Delhi Capitals.
