Mitchell Marsh produced a sensational 90 off 38 deliveries to steer Lucknow Super Giants to a comprehensive seven-wicket triumph over Chennai Super Kings at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Opting to bat first, Chennai Super Kings posted 187/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Kartik Sharma top-scored with a fluent 71, while Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 32 to provide late momentum.
In reply, LSG got off to an aggressive start as Marsh and Josh Inglis built a formidable 135-run opening stand.
Marsh dominated the bowlers with an array of powerful strokes, finding boundaries with ease.
Marsh brought up his half-century in just 21 balls and continued his attacking display before being run out for 90 in an unfortunate turn of events, narrowly missing out on a well-deserved century.
Following a brief middle-order wobble, Nicholas Pooran accelerated the scoring with a quickfire 32 off 17 balls. His late assault ensured that LSG completed the chase with 20 deliveries remaining.
Chennai’s bowling unit found it difficult to control the flow of runs, with several bowlers conceding heavily.
The lack of breakthroughs during crucial phases allowed LSG to maintain dominance throughout the innings.
Ultimately, LSG chased down the target with authority, turning what appeared to be a competitive contest into a one-sided affair.
The victory strengthens LSG’s position, while CSK face increasing pressure in their playoff campaign.
