In the 10th match of the IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) set a target of 157 runs for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat, SRH managed to post 156 for 9 in their allotted overs. Apart from Liam Livingstone, Heinrich Klaasen, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, none of the other batters could reach double figures.
SRH endured a disastrous start as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck on the final ball of the opening over by Mohammed Shami. Shami struck again in the third over, removing Travis Head for 7.
In the following over, Prince Yadav bowled out captain Ishan Kishan for just 1, leaving SRH in deep trouble. The situation worsened when Livingstone departed for 14, reducing the side to 26 for 4 in 7.1 overs.
At a critical juncture, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen stabilised the innings with a remarkable 116-run partnership for the fifth wicket off 63 balls. Nitish scored a fluent 56 off 33 deliveries, smashing five sixes and three boundaries.
Klaasen complemented him well with a composed knock of 62 runs off 41 balls, including two sixes and five fours. Their partnership played a pivotal role in reviving SRH’s innings and setting a competitive total.
Late Wickets Slow Momentum
SRH lost momentum towards the end as Klaasen and Harsh Dubey were dismissed on consecutive deliveries in the 19th over. This setback prevented the team from posting a bigger total.
For LSG, Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav, and Avesh Khan picked up two wickets each. Digvesh Rathi and Manimaran Siddharth also chipped in with one wicket apiece.
LSG, currently in eighth place, is still searching for its first win of the season. Meanwhile, SRH have secured one victory in two matches and are positioned fifth in the standings.
