Kolkata Knight Riders put on a composed bowling performance to hold Mumbai Indians to 147/8 in 20 overs in Match 65 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
Cameron Green and Saurabh Dubey struck early, while Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy maintained pressure through the middle overs.
The Mumbai Indians struggled after taking the first strike on a difficult two-paced pitch. Ryan Rickelton scored only six before edging Anukul Roy to Manish Pandey at point.
Cameron Green removed Naman Dhir for a duck with a precise outswinger, leaving MI at 17/2 within three overs.
Saurabh Dubey then dismissed Rohit Sharma, further pushing MI to 24/3 in the fourth over.
Dubey continued his effective spell and claimed the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, who made 15, as MI reached 46/4 at the end of the powerplay.
Rain briefly interrupted play with the score at 57/4 after eight overs.
Following the restart, Sunil Narine kept the scoring in check with tight lines and variations.
Narine conceded very few runs early in his spell, while Varun Chakravarthy also bowled economically despite a minor injury concern.
Tilak Varma found it difficult to accelerate and scored 20 off 32 balls before Kartik Tyagi dismissed him. A dropped chance earlier had given him a brief opportunity.
Hardik Pandya attempted to rebuild the innings but managed only 26 before Narine dismissed him.
A run-out involving Will Jacks added to Mumbai’s troubles, further slowing their progress.
Corbin Bosch remained unbeaten on 32 and, along with Deepak Chahar, added valuable runs towards the end. The pair collected 52 runs in the final four overs to lift the total.
Despite the late effort, KKR’s bowlers ensured that the Mumbai Indians ended with a modest score.
