India’s White-Ball Tour Of Bangladesh Postponed To September 2026; BCCI Confirms

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have officially agreed to postpone India’s upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh—comprising three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals—from August 2025 to September 2026.

Both boards jointly took the decision, citing security concerns and scheduling considerations in their respective countries.

In an official statement, the BCCI said,

The two Boards reached this decision after discussing their international cricket commitments and scheduling convenience. The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for the eagerly anticipated series and will announce revised dates and fixtures in due course.

Initial schedule & impact

India originally planned to begin the tour on 17 August 2025, immediately after concluding their five-Test home series against England on 4 August.

The rescheduling means that fans hoping to see Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in action will now have to wait longer.

This would have been their first appearance in an Indian jersey since the 2025 Champions Trophy victory.

Indian supporters can now look forward to the next white-ball action in October 2025, when India will tour Australia for a series of three ODIs and five T20Is.

The Indian team is currently playing the second Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

The remaining Tests at Lord’s (10–14 July), Manchester (23–27 July), and The Oval (31 July–4 August) will follow soon.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh are touring Sri Lanka, where the hosts have taken a 1–0 lead in a two-Test series and are now contesting a three-match ODI and T20I series.

Sri Lanka won the first ODI, and the second is in progress at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Both cricket boards have emphasised that the rescheduled September 2026 tour will proceed only when conditions are optimal for the safety of players, officials, and fans.

The boards will release further details on match dates and venues closer to the scheduled time.

The boards took a careful and responsible approach by postponing the series, considering regional security concerns and international cricket schedules to ensure all stakeholders stay fully prepared.
